New Years Interest

While working at California Casket in my teenage years, one time of the year was very odd for our business. The post New Year’s boom in casket sales. Why is that?

There’s a lot of things that you don’t realize. Right now across the nation there are millions of people in old people homes, in hospice and other places where the elderly are left and basically abandoned. They are never visited and sometimes they just want a little attention. It never really happens, unless there are Church groups that go and visit them.

After asking my boss about the phenomena of rising sales post New Years, I was surprised to hear the response. As it turns out, post New Year, People in homes and elderly care become severely depressed because over the holidays they are not visited. While others pass away because they were simply holding onto hope for one more holiday before they have to say goodbye to their homes and family for the interim. This is something that only I and a handful of others consider in regards to life. While I wasn’t making commission at work, it did prove to be busier than normal for us at the Casket Store.

That’s my post of interest for today.
