With the new deal Monday through Thursday at the video store, I’ve noticed a new trend for the weekend. All over our store we have signs that state the details of our new deal, and the number three is repeated on several occasions throughout the store. This of course does not include the video games and the adult section, however it does include all new releases alongside other things. This is not to say that things are clearly written, but there are things that are maintained throughout he store.
The trend that I’m assuming is active is that because of the repetition of the number three on many signs in our store, I believe that people are renting that and more on the weekends. They are renting in multiples of 3 simply because they are looking at signs that state three is the magic number. Even though it’s a weekday only thing, the weekend has seen a lot of action in regards to the number three.
There is also a major increase in returns. As stated in my theories about the new deal analysis in other posts, I have recently found out that when customers are returning movies, they are returning them in droves. Seriously, hundreds of movies have been returned in a short period of time. Yesterday my coworker left us a huge stack of returns. That is not appreciated simply because when you put things out of the returns box and put them on the counter you open up the doors for customers to ask “Do you have anymore of this?”.
Here’s what I wish my diatribe would go like:
Customer: “Do you have anymore of “Insert Title of Movie HERE”?
Me: Oh yes, I keep all the movies in the store back here so that when you ask me, I can simply give the movies to you. There is no need for shelves, we actually don’t use shelves to hold our movies anymore, because I know you’re going to ask me if I have it in stock!
Customer:”Duh….Dar…”
Me: I hate you.
There should be a manual somewhere. Maybe they should teach it in schools; IF THERE IS NO MOVIES ON THE SHELVES WE DO NOT HAVE THEM AT THE COUNTER! JERKS! I hate when people assume that I have a stockpile of movies behind the counter. Maybe that’s what I should do, just stockpile the whole store behind the counter so that I never have to answer the question again.
Now I’m upset.
