Hello everybody,
I’m back from a trip to Idaho and the land of heat and Idaho State.
Did anyone else see Idaho State get blown out of the water by USC! Oh yeah, the Trojans mopped the floor with the Vandals and while I didn’t get to watch the whole game, I got to read the text highlights on my cellphone.
We got a new Coffee Maker over at Casa De Orduna (my house) and it’s a 10 cup Kitchen Aid. It’s red..but it’s not anything like the ill fated, stupid “(RED)” campaign. It’s just red. It makes the best coffee. Our old coffee maker was a hello kitty novelty, and it made coffee taste bitter and horrible. This Kitchen Aid is great!
So far we’ve been brewing “Shade Grown Mexican” (like ME in a way) and it tastes marvelous! If you’re a coffee drinker, I highly recommend this brand of coffee..from non other than Starbucks. It was free and well it tastes great coming from the coffee maker. So what’s so great about a coffee maker?
Well…the process of putting water on coffee grounds is not a new thing, however the way this coffee maker puts water on the grounds is different. It uses a shower spray method rather than just a constant flow of water. This causes the flavor to just be better. I enjoy it greatly. I love how technology has made things so much simpler.
Last night as we approached our door…I noticed that there was a piece of paper on our door. It reminded me of the 95 Thesis but it wasn’t nailed to my door, and Luther was not available for comment. The piece of paper taped to the door said that our rent would increase.
A rent increase means that I’m out of luck in the realms of paying the rent. Our old rent at $875 was stretching the budget to where I had to blog like crazy to make ends meet, but beginning on October 1st our rent will be $960 + $75 Parking, and making the rent more than I can pay. My wife works too, and our combined income cannot pay for the rent, student loans, car insurance, and other bills that we have in this clumsy day and age.
So now we have 26 days to figure out a place to live, and come up with first and last months rent + security deposit for a new place.
The reason for the rent incrase?
“Fair Market Value”. That’s what the paper said, stating that the operation costs of running our building has gone up, therefore they have to raise the rent.
Sad part though is a list of grievances that I have hated since I got here:
- Urine: Our building is protected by a security gate, and in the morning at 5:00 A.M after I return from taking my wife to work, I notice a STRONG smell. That smell is Urine. Someone urinates into our walkway, and no one cleans it up. Once again, those “costs” must not include washing the doorways.
- Cigarettes: Our building is next door to a bar & restaurant. Lots of people smoke outside and throw their used cigarettes on the sidewalk and street in front of our building and the restaurant. I go to work knee deep in butts. No one sweeps them. Once again, living next to an ashtray is not in the “rising costs” of our building. Not only that, people that smoke are idiots. Why are you going to dump your cigarettes in front of my doorway! COME ON MAN! I want to strangle these hipsters.
- Laundry Room: They have a laundry room on site. There is 1 washer, and 1 dryer. THE WHOLE building which is 2 stories and about 30 units use that machine. The machine costs 1.75 to wash, 1.00 to dry. It’s stupid! Why not go to the laundry mat you ask? Because it’s not very close, and there’s no parking in front or behind the laundry mat. So instead of walking with lots of clothes each week to save a few cents, we use the conveniently over priced washer int he building. Once again, those high costs are crazy!
- FLIES!: There are a million flies in front of my door. Seriously, since we’ve moved to this apartment complex there has been a lot of flies outside our door. It’s ridiculous. We have complained many times, but they have never left. Of course…the high cost of having flies in front of our door, have raised the cost of rent.
So right now we’re trying to find a new place and fast. Meanwhile I have to work the 9 to 5 shift, sell stuff on ebay, and still maintain 8 blogs, with a new blog idea in the works, a 9th blog that I work for, and a 10th that is attached to my company.
I’m buried with my words, and I am the one that is paying back a degree in Interactive Media Design.
Great.
