Translation Nation by Hector Tobar was a book that called to me. It really did a good job at explaining how the culture is shifting in America. The latino culture, heritage, understanding and community is here!
My story connects with the book. I crossed the border when I was young, my parents wanting a better life. I have grown up and adapted the American Dream, but am now clawing back to peel my own heritage back to the forefront of who I am.
This book was great.
It outlines different parts of the United States and how hispanic culture has influenced politics, community, and all sorts of different things. From the midwest, the east coast, west coast, and northwest all types of latin american influences are highlighted with rich detail that only Mr. Tobar could write.
If you’re interested in the culture at all, you owe yourself a great read.
I suck at reviews. This book was good. I’m glad it’s over. I am starting a new book today. I am glad to be part of the masses that reads.
