No More Text Ads

Hey kids!

I’m back again with another update on here. As a video store clerk, I spent a lot of time arguing with people over what movies were good and which ones were bad. I argued with people over things like Kevin Smith’s movies, or cult classics, but never did I point them to my humble sites. Now that I’m older, wiser, and less argumentative, I have found that you can lead people to a movie but you can’t make them watch.

Moreover, you can display a million text links, but you can’t make them click.

I followed this e-book by “John Chow” the world famous blogger, who makes quite a fortune from blogging, and applied nearly every principal he had for about a course of 3 months time. (you can look in the archives for individual examples)

Then I started to check out other ways to earn money online, and things weren’t looking so hot.

Here’s my main reasons:

  • Traffic: My site just doesn’t get the traffic it used to. I used a lot of traffic generators in the past, and the last few months have been mired with a LOT of traffic. However, the average user on these sites doesn’t even look at my site! They simply open a browser to let it auto-surf, until they can click a button and go to the next blog. I registered THOUSANDS of 30 second clicks. How crappy was that!? I am slowing down in that regards, and am no longer going to rely on generators for traffic, it’s pointless.
  • No Services:This site DOES NOT provide a service. This site is about me and my misadventures through the world of being a counter jockey, tech worker, and casket salesman. NOTHING else! I’ve tried a few formulas in the past, and at the height of my comments and readership, I found that it wasn’t my “HOW TO” posts that garnered attention, it was the clever witted diatribes about life, love, and miserable work experiences that had people going. At this point, I’m glad to revert back to that. Without providing a service, few people want to subscribe to my feeds, read my posts, or even check the archives.
  • No More Status: I used to be a somebody. I used to write for several websites, owned a record label and was genuinely searched for online. I had a long list of friends that I talked to on a daily basis about music, culture, wrestling etc. Now all I have is myself and my blogs. (online at least) And it seems that no one is searching for me. Sadly. The #1 searched keyword on this site (well, the #1 natural search from google, that generates traffic) is VANS TNT! How crappy is that?

So with all that said, I will NO longer be displaying AD BRITE ads. NO, It is not because people say it’s spyware, adware or anything like that. People are idiots. They like to comment on that, as if they know what I’m doing, and they just like to insinuate things that just aren’t there. So please, don’t reply on the comments with “I Told You So” or anything like that.

I’ve pulled the plug due to very LOW click through rates.

Text Ads work for sites that get a TON of traffic. Right now I get about 40 hits a week. 20 of them are considered unique visitors. Sadly, this site has seen better days.

I’m going to keep going, just because this is my form or relief, but I’m going to slow down on the making money on this particular site. If you check out my other sites, you will notice that I have kept the “paid posts” alive, simply to cover some bills and hosting fees that I’m now getting.

If you’re bored, check out the Amazon.com links on this page, and order something. It gives me a mere 4% but it’s nice to have a little help.

Don’t complain. My The #1 searched keyword on my former blogspot (the one I just moved to WP) was “nude immigration picture”. Seriously, I must have disappointed people !

My best advice for your blog would be putting your link in forums etc. This works wonders ! ;-)
