People Expect Too Much

In Los Angeles, $10 an hour for simple tech 1 stuff is a gift. People fight for that wage to get more experience and others make up their experience to get the job.

When I started in web development I was paid 9.75 but worked a TON of over time.

Now I make a small wage, and we have a TON of work that we can’t get to, because we need another person here. I’ve been interviewing people that want the job, and the deal breaker has been the money. They all want more money.

I would agree….BUT….

the people that have applied do NOT have any major experience working in web design or anything technical!

Yet they want more money!

It’s surprising. When I go into apply for jobs, I never ask for more than what I’m currently making, and if they give me more, that’s awesome.

But these candidates want more money, and when we can’t offer it to them, they leave.

Great….

I’m back to my old job of being photographer, but at the same time, am doing tech stuff, and it’s just bad. The whole thing is just bad.

I’m just doing what I can, because I have no reason to NOT work, so I’m just doing what I can, even though we need more people.

I’m not having fun at work right now.

Plus, the heat is not on yet. It’s 52 degrees outside our door…it feels lower in the warehouse…it’s not snow but this is where I work and I’m a web developer, a little heat would be nice.
