They Just Want More

I got a phone call from my sister, and she was asking me for a Christmas Gift. At first I was annoyed by the fact that she was calling me in the beginning of November to tell me that she wants something for Christmas, then I realized that I was the same way when I was her age.

That is in no way an excuse, but I reached a level of understanding that doesn’t really get talked about on here much.

I decided to just play along and tell her maybe, because I might end up getting it for her, or maybe I will just rely on the multitude of presents that I have already purchased for her throughout the year.

What do I mean?

Well, throughout the year, my wife and I buy gifts and items for people throughout the year in hopes of giving them those things at Christmas time. This makes sure that everyone gets covered, and during the rush of shopping towards the end of the Fall season, we won’t have to worry at all. While the news reports will be considering the fact that millions will flood stores, my wife and I will be sitting at the house delighted that we don’t have to waste time in stores.

We are just going to sit around and drink Coffee while the world spins itself a new web of deceit and debt.

How old is your sister ?

I don’t get excited by Xmas anymore… I feel old but I really don’t want anything.

After the Christmas shopping that started out with, “I gotta get a tire changed–it’ll be just a few minutes” that ended SIX HOURS LATER, I’ve vowed to buy online the things I won’t be making myself (I do handmade bath and body at a level that makes for a pricey retail product, so my family loves getting it).

Funny she still gets excited by Xmas… no offense of course. I know when I was a teen, I was pretty much over it. I knew what I wanted if anything, but I was realistic as well.
