Regardless of politics, I don’t think most people understand the situation as you said. Illegals aren’t just illegals, they are human beings with family, ties, a job etc. People aren’t illegal because it’s cool, they just don’t have another solution most of the time.

I got a new perspective after I immigrated to Canada myself.

I mean, it’s such a complicated issue. For one, our economy would collapse (not to say it’s in the best shape anyway), and for two (to cut my comment short), if I was in another country and knew I could come here and make a better life for my family, I’d do it in an instant.
