01.08Something We Can Not Be
A boredom movement has come across these last few weeks. Not just another boredom movement, or a cliché in the form of a song, but rather a real movement of boredom that has me questioning how long I can keep on blogging.
Some of my blogs were created as a labor of love. While some blogs were created only for money making purposes. Thanks to the page rank breakdown, I’ve been at a loss as to what to do. So I killed one blog, and haven’t really updated another. Will that one die too? It might be slowly dying.
I’m not sure if I can keep prancing around the other blogs, It’s starting to become a labor with no money in my pocket.
I used to enjoy blogging so much more when there was a few dollars involved. Now, I just sit here and wonder about what is next. I was thinking about going back to blogmad.net or blogexplosion.com for some help with traffic, but I only lasted about twenty minutes before the bad blogs got the best of me. I got seriously tired of seeing the same political blogs, celebrity blogs, and random blogs that have no interest to me at all.
The quality blogs I have seen in the past are already giving me a great stream of stuff to read, and comment on in my google reader. I’m over 1,000 rss feeds subscribed in that thing, and there is no end in sight as I continue to use stumbleupon.com for finding new sites. I thumbs up a lot of sites, and would love to stumble more, but I can’t imagine how to do that besides simply clicking the stumble button like a robot.
So what’s next for me?
I wonder about this as I roam around the internet looking at people with big pockets from last years boom in paid blogs, and those that have managed to gain traffic are seeing money through sites that offer you to write about things you love, meanwhile the things that worked for me before no longer work for me.
I have 7 blogs running fast, and I think I’m going to close down another one before the month is over, unless I see a dramatic leap in traffic to the interior of the pages.
What about this blog?
I’m going to keep writing, but this site is going to get more diverse as the days go forward. Seriously, I want to talk about so much and sometimes I hold back because I used to have sponsors that didn’t allow me to open my mind, but this year, the only sponsor I have is Amazon.com, and unfortunately no one is buying anything from them with my links, so I’m not seeing any money.
I used to think of myself as a prolific blogger, but these days I feel more like a quitter. A blogger who tried to make something big, and only managed a whimper at best.
So here’s some announcements for you:
Cd Reviews – A lot of cd’s hit my desk and I don’t get to review them for the magazines I write for because bad reviews don’t sell magazines and ads, so last year while I got some major opportunities on one hand, I was censored in others, therefore I am no longer really reviewing a lot. So I’ll add reviews to cd’s right here on this blog!
Movie reviews - I’m going to review movies and dvd’s that I can’t or won’t review for my other blogs. I have 2 movie review blogs that are horror related, and general audience related, but do not feature television shows, or movies that I see at the movie theaters nearby.
Book Reviews – I’m going to be reviewing books on this site more this year. For Christmas my wife bought me books, and I have a ton of books that I’m trying to finish off before moving on. So I’m going to write them here, for your amusement.
If you’re also looking for book recommendations, or just simply want something new to read, check out my “Featured Book” on the top right hand of this blog, it will help you decide what next to read, or give you an idea of what I’m up to in the literary world. I don’t just put up crap up there, I carefully select books that I would want to share with others.
All in all I’m going to diversify this blog more and more, and hopefully all 2 of you readers out there subscribed to my posts are going to come along for the rid. You may have noticed that I have “related posts” lined in every post after the post is finished. Check those archives out and comment on them. You’ll be surprised to see what you might have missed in the course of my writings on these blogs.
Please check out our sponsors located in the ad areas of this site. You know where they are…and if you are going to shop on amazon.com, please do so by clicking one of my links.
My “boss” Ryan from blogging4everyone.info thought that this year I would give up blogging.
I almost gave up over the last few weeks actually. I dropped one blog, another one is on the brink of extinction, with three others in serious contemplation over traffic, readers, and my own personal time.
Do what you love.
That’s the best advice I’ve ever gotten.
I love to write. I can write day and night, about all sorts of topics. I will continue to write in this blog, and I encourage you to help me by linking me from your blog (I’ll do the same if you’d like) review my blog, as I will review yours. Subscribe to my rss feeds, as I will subscribe to yours, and comment or try to comment. I’ll always try to comment on your sites, and throw my two cents. I have few friends, but online, I’m a huge name..(just google sir Jorge) so why not spread the love.
Lastly. If you need help with digg.com or if you need a good thumbs up on stumbleupon.com, let me know via email or something, and I’ll check it out for sure.
Oh and every weekend I will be posting a “best of” list with links to all your best posts of the week, so keep writing, as I will keep writing, and help out more and more blogs…last time I checked I did have 1,000+ rss feeds to read on a daily basis, some of them are bound to have good posts, so I’ll make sure to link to them from my site.
So here’s to the future, here’s to the new year, here’s to whatever! I leave you with one of my favorite music videos, Swing Life Away by Rise Against.

I don’t know, maybe chilling a while and getting the fun for blogging back would help?
Just posting your hearts content?
Stumbleupon can be a hit, if you have the right time and person promoting the right post (also 500 pageclicks yesterday didn’t even leave me a dime or a comment, I suck….does that bother me? Not really :))
Blogctalog is much easier to handle than blogmad and gets you a few clicks at least and some interesting blogs.
Technorati isn’t bad, if we could get a few more people around doing something over there.
Anything else?
Nope, I just hope, you get your swing back!

I’ve got an idea for you, if you want to get more traffic, not sure if you already know about it, but I’ll send you and email!
And yes, keep those book reviews coming, I have soon finished my last book for my “4 books battle” and then I have no clue on what to read.

I understand you… there is the traffic, and there is the money part.
Traffic, well, is a bit of luck (Stumble, links, commenting… you know that).
Money is different. I have the traffic. I mean, not that much but few hundred visits a day. But I don’t make any money whatsoever. I moved my Adsense to the top of the post cause I was getting desperate. 0 clicks out of 800 page impression. I might ditch it.
I don’t mind too much, I blog because I like it. But I wish I knew the secret of rewarding $$$.

I never considered blogging for money…blogging is a hobby for me, and a way to practice my writing. I’m afraid that if I took the step to get revenue I’d get so caught up in the restrictions and forcing myself to blog I’d just getting bored. So I blog however I choose. If I want to post a music video that I’m liking at the moment I do. If I just finished reading an awesome book, or listening to an awesome cd I’ll post about it. If I just have a bunch of random crap that needs to be dispelled from my brain so I can settle down…well I put it into words and post it. That to me is what blogging is. It’s about creating a space for yourself, where you can be yourself. If you want to make money from it, and can without compromising yourself…great! But first and foremost, blogging should be a piece of yourself.
Anyway, new reader here…following a comment you left on my blog…oh, a few days ago. I’m looking forward to reading your reviews…being a music/book junkie myself.
Oh, and Fight Club is better than Invisible Monsters.

Wait, you can make money blogging? Can I do it while still writing incoherent posts making fun of things I don’t understand?
That is a sweet song. Rise Against has some great harder stuff too.
