This movie is funny. Plain and simple as can be, this movie follows a nice narrative that is funny in a way that you don’t really see a lot of times. Ranging from physical comedy to the absurd, Hot Rod follows one man and his quest to jump 15 buses and save his stepfather who needs a heart transplant.
This movie goes through some great situations, but I liked it more because it reminds me of my life…in a weird way.
In the film, Rod doesn’t want to grow up and holds onto his dream of being a stuntman, at all costs.
How is that anything like me?
I refuse to grow up in a lot of ways. I still wear my hooded sweatshirts, still listen to heavy music, still have problems landing my kickflips on my skateboard, and still absolutely love professional wrestling. I even have a pro-wrestling blog, but that’s besides the point.
The movie follows Rod through some awesome failed stunts, and humorous situations that make him into an unlikely hero.
The film is laughable in many ways, and only those that really enjoy irreverent comedy that really is predictable at times.
This movie is more like a long “snl short” but it’s worth it. I like it. You might like it too.
Oh and for all of you idiots out there that are saying “I bet I can figure out the ending…” you’re wrong! Hot Rod is hilarious, and won’t cost your brain anything to watch it; which can be good or bad depending on your feelings towards mindless self indulgence. I recommend Hot Rod on dvd, it’s hilarious.
