For many people today is a time of family gatherings, baskets of chocolate, or the mandatory “Easter” sermon where the details of the sacrifice of Jesus are hammered into the hearts of millions of American’s who go to church.
Easter, what a day, I guess.
This weekend I ventured out to see Drillbit Taylor at the movies. The movie revolves around three kids that hire a bodyguard to protect them from a school bully.
The first three quarters of the film, was a little slow, and right when I was ready to nail this movie as a horrible example of film, the film took a major 180 turn and got superior and great! The movie was a major throwback to the 80’s style of film making. It is smart enough to know when the audience is going to want some action, it cares about the characters development, and thrills you to the final blow.
This movie plays a lot on the charisma of Owen Wilson, but the movie isn’t about him, he’s just the draw. The movie is more of a coming of age tale, only today’s movie audience and critics are complete idiots. They’ve forgotten what its like to be a teenager, and forgot how to enjoy movies.
I still like movies, for more than what they are.
This movie, made me realize that I’m not that old, and although my geek/nerd status segregates me from a lot of people, places, and things, I’m still alive, and well…high school is over, and I’m still here.
Drillbit Taylor, if nothing else, is a throwback to the 80’s and early 90’s coming of age movies about being in school, and growing up.
I recommend it, most others won’t.
*A note on skateboarding.
I noticed that my skateboarding is coming along to the place where I was ten years ago. Flawless ollies in parking lots of major chains, and the occasional flip trick. It feels nice.
I can’t wait to get mini-ramp in my backyard someday. Skateboarding clears my head.
As much as I don’t worry about the numbers on my sites, I can’t escape the fact that I need a second income…man…Sallie Mae is sure a mean lender.
I’ve got a ton more things coming up, I’m about 30 posts ahead of schedule.
I deleted all my other blogs (that were inactive). I deleted the tech site, deleted the horror site, deleted the comic site, and deleted the other sites that are just dead. They don’t get any visitors, they aren’t important, no one cares…I don’t, that’s for sure.
I’m already dreading coming into the office tomorrow, I’m tired, and just burnt out.
When will I start to enjoy the tech world? When will any tech worker enjoy it?
I almost went to see The Velvet Teen last night. I decided that a 10pm start time was too late. Instead I went to bed.
