Evan Almighty Dvd Review

Evan Almighty Poster

Evan Almighty is the sequel to Bruce Almighty, and it does what sequels do, follow the same sort of story arc, usually ruining the memory of the first film.

This movie has a simple premise; God asks Evan to build an ark because a flood is coming. The first half of the movie is spent with Evan refusing to build the ark, and the second half is the results of his start and follow through with the building of the boat.

Along the way there are a lot of jokes that only religious people or Christians will understand, so it automatically alienates the general audience that may not be well read in the bible.

This movie is fast and easily watched. It features some very breezy comedy, and is something the whole family can and most likely will enjoy. If you’re an extremists, either right or left, you’ll find problems with the religious overtones that are found in this film, in which case you’ll probably stay away from this film. But other than the Christian basis, this film is not half bad, and worth a rental.

I’m not sure where this lies in the world of good movies, or bad movies, but overall this film had me wondering what smell was coming through my window. Maybe I’ve spent too much time online and working on this website. Maybe I’m just tired.
