Fast Movie Reviews Volume 2

Once again I bring to you the fast and the furious on this blog. It’s basically my way of being lazy on this blog. Why dish out thousands of words on movies when I can throwdown a few hundred words on four movies…and you’ll still not buy them or watch them or even comment on them…with the exception of a few random stragglers, so here is four more movies.

Another Gay Movie Dvd
Another Gay Movie – This movie is funny, but not really for everyone. It is the most over the top gay comedy I’ve ever seen. But push aside the really bright visuals, you end up seeing a clone of American Pie with an all gay cast, with some minor moments of perverse behavior. Even the most obscene ideas, like going to the park for a glory hole session, is comical in some odd way. Another Gay Movie is just too over the top for most, and I almost turned it off on many instances, but for the sake of science…I watched the whole thing. Viewer discretion is definitely advised on this one. I liked that it was filmed in my old stomping grounds…Culver City, California.

No Country For Old Men Dvd
No Country For Old Men – This movie built so much tension and story telling, that I’m surprised I missed out on watching this film a long time ago. I was meaning to see this one for so long, and for whatever reasons, I missed out on it, every single chance I had. When it finally came out, I was appalled that such a film was created, and I missed it. While people were making such a hoopla over Juno, this film created a true emotional and tense story about a man…some money…and one of the most ruthless villains I’ve ever seen on film. This movie is great, even when the film abruptly ends. Movies based on books rarely capture the formers glory, but this movie carefully makes sense of such a dense characterization.

PCU Jeremy Piven
PCU – Jeremy Piven plays a slacker in this hilarious college comedy. Piven does such a great job, yet gets completely overlooked for so many years afterwards. It’s funny to see him play a slacker here, and then become the dean of a college in the movie Old School. Piven has such great charisma, and David Spade plays such a stuck up idiot, that it’s alarming that a lot of people missed out on this great comedy. Sure it’s in the five dollar section at Wal-Mart, but it’s so good, check out this romp through one day at college. I know that the idea has been done before, but without Piven, this movie would crash and burn like crazy.

Boogie Nights Dvd Cover
Boogie Nights – The movie about the porn industry, featured Marky Mark, and creates a completely believable story. This film was based on John Holmes, porn icon, and has some great fleshed out character development, and some great dialogue through and through. The movie is a who’s who list of Hollywood royalty, and not until reading the Ron Jeremy autobiography did I realize that he was a consultant on this film. While it doesn’t really glorify any aspect of the adult industry, it shows such great contrast through the decades as porn moves from the silver screen into the living rooms of America. The film also features one the greatest scenes in movie history; it involves a donut shop, that’s all I’ll say. If you’ve seen Boogie Nights, remember the donut shop, and you’ll probably agree with me in thinking that those five or six minutes are a perfect example of beauty and poetry in film. I could have done without seeing Marky Mark’s prosthetically enhanced penis at the end of the film. Clocking in at over 2 hours, this movie goes through all the emotional connections that you can probably make in a movie.

All these films are available in the sir jorge online store, if you are in the mood to do some shopping. I’ll return with more reviews, firing on all barrels, for sure.

No country for old men obviously stands out in the review… didn’t like it that much though. I guess it’s more of a guy movie.

Don’t think of it as lazy, think of it as a service to your readers. Besides lazy is what I do when I just post a pretty picture once in awhile.
