Super High Me is a very odd parody of Super Size Me. The movie follows comedian Doug Benson as he stops smoking marijuana for 30 days, then starts smoking medicinal marijuana for 30 days straight.

I admit, I expected the outcomes to be horrible, and it ended up being the opposite. Doug ended up being smarter, more alert, and more critical on pot than he was without it. On the flipside his lung capacity wasn’t all that great.

This movie is low budget, and while it does have some funny moments (considering Benson is a comedian) it flows a little oddly. The sketches between some of the scenes are funny, but the majority of this film is just smoking weed. The marijuana is medicinal, and along the way the movie talks about legislation, and eventually shows a drug bust by the DEA.

This movie is not for everyone. The majority of people will be turned off completely by the subject matter. This is a taboo of sorts for a lot of people, and sometimes a bit more offensive than sex in film. This movie shows A LOT of pot being smoked. I kid you not.

The movie is definitely going to be a pothead’s dream. It takes no moral stance, and it doesn’t end with a lesson or a moral. It simply showcases what happens when you get high non stop, daily, and nothing seemed to really change for Benson. Sure, his lungs were less powerful, and he gained 8 pounds, but overall, he was just as funny regardless. Maybe this advocates marijuana in a lot of ways, but maybe it doesn’t. It depends on how you view the film. It’s interesting, I give it that, but it’s not for everyone, that’s for sure.

For a documentary, it’s actually really funny, and I’m sure that was the intention of the film makers.
