Irreversible Dvd Review

I don’t like when people think movies are really offensive, and then tell me that I can’t watch it without cringing. This movie was amazing to me, it’s not that offensive, and the story is just amazing to me. The movie is the ultimate revenge movie, and it happens backwards. The movie involves a rape, and the boyfriends and friends revenge. Someone gets their face beaten in with a fire extinguisher, and the camera doesn’t brush away. This movie then goes through some 7 levels of hell, as the characters that are looking for the culprit go through a den of sexual misconduct, and I swear there was a hand in someone’s butt, and that my friends, is highly offensive to most.

Here’s a safe…somewhat safe…trailer for you to get an idea of the film:

Now for the last reader that might still be interested in this film, there is a graphic rape scene. This is as close to porn as I’ve ever seen on film. The sounds are disgusting, and lasts for a long time. This movie pulls no punches at all. This movie is insane, and maybe I’m so desensitized that I can handle such a film, but this one is harsh, it’s really harsh. The end is the beginning and the beginning is the end. When the movie stops being overtly offensive, the movie sheds light on three people. A woman, her boyfriend and her ex, on the way to a party, and the complexities of friendship with given circumstances; a breathe of fresh fair in contrast.

This movie is completely sub titled and not dubbed at all. I believe it is French, and well, if this is the type of movies the French are producing, viva la France! (I think I wrote that right) This is awesome. Great movie, great intensity, and one of my favorite films of all time; I must be sick. Irreversible might make you sick, but if you can stomach it, this movie is the best revenge flick in long time.
