George Clooney is an interesting actor to me, and to many other people. He sold me as Michael Clayton, but in this film, I just don’t care. Maybe I’m a jaded movie watcher, or maybe the movie isn’t as great as people think it is.
The movie, Up In The Air, has some interesting moments. The character driven romantic comedy, daramatic, piece of junk has a few interesting premises.
This is what I liked:
The fact that people are getting fired, and there’s someone there to help them out. I find it rad. I wish I got fired with 6 months severance, and a helpful placement service alongside health benefits, that’s awesome! Every time I’ve been fired I just got thrown out and that was that, so seeing that a film based on firing people (at least initially) actually took the time to do some research on a what a real company does when you get fired, wasn’t half bad.
The second aspect of the film was travel, I liked it. I like the idea of detachment and sometimes wish I had a job that let me travel, but instead I’m stuck in a city that offers NO jobs to the educated.
The things I didn’t like:
Clooney’s character starting to realize that he might want this sort of pseudo-perfect life with a new woman in his life. It’s so cliche to have a character be a stark isolationist only to find a random woman and then hook up…it’s fantasy, throw me a curve ball.
The way the movie shifts from being about travel, to something else.
The shoe-horned metaphor about life and how precious it is, so we shouldn’t waste it, even if we’re scared.
Man this movie sucked.
Forget it, it bored me.
I am not a good reviewer these days, so just go somewhere else…man I hate these highly praised movies that suck when you watch em.
Clooney’s been better….everyone’s been better…even the music was better in other films…man I’m tired.
Seth Grahame-Smith creates a lush landscape of fictional…or truthful writing. Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter is an amazing upcoming book, and to prove it, here’s a trailer! Man…this looks rad…
From the New York Times bestselling author of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES comes the true history of our sixteenth president - Seth Grahame-Smith’s ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER.
Simply because I can’t watch enough movies to justify continuing to sit idly by while the site sits here, I decided I’ll just start funneling all sorts of ideas through here, and if it sticks it sticks, and if it doesn’t, well…that’ll have to do. Grace Lin recently was featured on Al Roker’s Book Club for kids segment on the Today Show and it’s kind of cool to see. I have the luxury of seeing the Today Show from time to time, all because I haven’t been able to get a job.
Where the Mountain Meets The Moon by Grace Lin is an interesting book that you might want to get your kids or read yourself. I found it quite a cool thing to read, and it’s nice to see that mainstream media is still pushing books for kids and letting them get a piece of the attention.
The following clip is from The Today Show and features the author (Grace Lin) talking about her book and answering questions from kids, alongside Al Roker, not bad.

Test your knowledge of Simpsons trivia with The Simpsons Scene It? Deluxe Edition. Recommended for ages 13 and older, this DVD/trivia game celebrates the Simpsons’ 20th anniversary, and features material from the show’s first 19 seasons. More than just a trivia game, Scene It? also challenges you to use observation, memory, wordplay, and problem-solving to decode special DVD puzzles. Designed for two or more players, this hilarious trivia game is ideal for Simpsons fanatics and casual fans alike.
A Trip to Springfield, Trivia Style
From the game pieces to the trivia cards, every aspect of Scene It? has been infused with the charm and humor of The Simpsons. The game begins with players choosing one of four collectible tokens to represent their team. Sculpted out of metal, these tokens have been modeled after some of the show’s most recognizable icons: the family TV, the Springfield power plant, the three-eyed fish, and a slushie cup. The game board is collapsible and features two sizes, giving you the option of playing a 15-minute quick game or a 40-minute extended game.
Teams advance around the board by answering two types of questions: traditional trivia cards and DVD-based puzzles. The trivia cards, which resemble what you might find in Trivial Pursuit, come in three different categories: green “general” questions, orange “song/dialogue” questions, and yellow “pop culture” questions. They vary in difficulty, and some of the tougher questions are challenging enough to stump even the most fervent Simpsons fans.
The main attraction, however, is the interactive DVD. Featuring hundreds of video clips, sound bites, and images from the show, the DVD challenges players to solve brain-teasing Simpsons puzzles. With a variety of different puzzle categories, the DVD puts your knowledge of The Simpsons to the test. Categories include “Krusty’s Cartoon Cut ‘Em Ups,” where players must identify a character based on a distorted image, and “Blank-Diddly Blank,” which challenges players to decode clever wordplay.
Fun for Every Level of Simpsons Fan
The DVD has been designed with the fans in mind. Released to celebrate the 20th anniversary of The Simpsons, Scene It? is the ultimate homage to TV’s most famous dysfunctional family. You’ll see cameos by your favorite characters, watch video clips from classic episodes, and be treated to the Simpsons soundtrack.
With hundreds of questions, Simpsons Scene It? has something for every type of Simpsons fan. The game is difficult enough to pose a challenge to Simpsons die-hards, but casual fans don’t need to worry about being excluded. So long as you can identify recurring characters like Sideshow Bob and Ned Flanders, you will be able to answer some of the easier questions.

I was in the book store today, like I usually do on a boring Sunday, and I was looking for something to read. I’m in the middle of moving and all of my books are packed. I was looking through all my favorite sections and narrowed the selections down to three different books from three specific genres. I measured the size and weight and pages of the books and looked at my budget and decided on a couple of different things.
What happened though, is I was passing by a display and something caught my eye. The book “Blue Like Jazz” by Donald Miller. I had been wanting to read this book for a while, and I decided to pick it up. It wasn’t the only book I got though. I picked up “Mister B. Gone” by Clive Barker in the bargain section of the store. My local bookstore is two stories, and the first story has a large discount section. I don’t usually buy hardcover books, but at 5.98 I couldn’t resist a taste of the macabre from Clive Barker.
I now have two books to keep me company while the boring process of driving over to a new state and packing gets boring overall.
